Exploring an Unique Steam Demo: Guiding a Poop with the Goal to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and players have found a variety of entertaining creations from small studios. But, one catches the eye for its offbeat concept. Named Unko Technica, this old-school styled side-scrolling game lets you play a protagonist that is actually a turd striving to make its way to a commode. In case you're wondering, "Unko" means "poop."

How you interact is straightforward: just use a jump control. Throughout numerous levels, encounter tough enemies and visit a store to buy outfits for your fecal avatar.

Time your actions with caution, since one wrong move forces beginning again. Leap using air pockets to propel your character higher, cross fragile ledges, and activate switches to unlock hidden paths. Collect currency for buying challenging game content as things gets crazy.

Visually, the game features eye-catching stages and catchy background music. The simple visual style of morphing geometric shapes could recall players of beloved games like Earthbound.

While it's difficult to think of similar titles where you play as a dung character, gaming frequently incorporated fecal matter. For example, in Death Stranding, players make grenades from protagonist droppings. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use dung as fertilizer. Naturally, such content shows up extensively in the adventure The Stick of Truth.

Despite its humorous premise, Unko Technica has already garnered notable awards, including winning at Bandai Namco's GYAAR Studio in 2023. A playable preview is ready at present on Steam, with the final release scheduled to launch on PC this November.
